For 20 years, Elfwood.com served as beloved hub of creative resources for Sci-Fi & Fantasy writers and artists alike.
Unfortunately, in 2016, Elfwood.com closed down when it could no longer keep up with its largest competitor, DeviantArt. This resulted in the loss of its entire massive catalog: articles, resources, and even user uploads were wiped out completely. While some pages are still accessible through WayBackMachine, page indexing makes navigating the website in its original form impossible. Without precise URL’s, some pages are lost; and others, never archived in the first place, have fared no better.
This character creation form is one I’ve saved from the bygone days of Elfwood, and it has helped me tremendously in my writing. It’s a little longwinded in some areas, but as a general guide, I’ve always found that filling this out with a character in mind helps me to flesh out their backstory, personality, and unique voice more effectively than any other template I’ve discovered.
